New guidance and an established archive

Our archive records products and designs from earlier years. Historical reporting and photographs are retained where useful, but an old feature is not a promise of current stock, price or specification. Check the maker or seller for the particular item you intend to buy.

How we update articles

When an article receives a substantive refresh, factual corrections are integrated into the text and useful context is checked against reliable sources. A final note records the update date, original publication date and scope of the revision. Routine maintenance does not make an old article newly published.

Original contributor credits remain part of the archive. They do not imply that a historical contributor is currently on staff or personally reviewed a later revision. Current site revisions are separate from the original reporting.

What our guides do—and do not—claim

Our guides help you compare fit, construction, care requirements and purchasing questions. They are not hands-on product tests unless explicitly identified as such. Archive coverage does not authenticate a resale listing or guarantee airline acceptance. We link to relevant primary sources where they support current guidance, and distinguish dated examples from rules that apply to your own purchase or journey.
